What our guests experience

“The house is incredibly cosy and equipped with everything you could wish for (a large hob, oven, barbecue area, fireplace), and there’s a beautiful lake right on the doorstep. Ideal for larger groups (there were 21 of us)!”

“Thank you for letting us stay at Boafall Lodge – we had another fantastic weekend, and I’ve booked it for the last weekend in May 2027.”

“As always, we’ve had a fantastic stay at your lodge, and we appreciate the efforts you’ve made to improve our stay.

”We’re still looking forward to coming back next year for another unforgettable stay in the Swedish forests.”

Thoughtful improvements – for your experience.

In the second quarter, too, we continued our work on improving Boafall Lodge – always with a view to making your stay even more enjoyable.

The garden was given new terraces and planting, and the view of the lake was reopened. At the same time, new garden lighting created a cosy atmosphere around the lodge. Work continued on the building’s numerous window frames – over 70 in total – and the terrace canopy was thoroughly cleaned.

Our list of projects is still long, and we’re constantly working on them. We’re also always open to good ideas and requests from our guests. At the same time, it’s important to us to preserve the building’s original character, which is a big part of Boafall Lodge’s special charm.

Productive meetings
Every guest, every conversation and every smile is an important part of the story of Boafall Lodge

What makes Boafall Lodge so special is the people who visit us. From the very first point of contact, a booking often turns into a personal meeting – and it is precisely these moments that make our day-to-day life truly unique.

This spring, too, we have had the pleasure of welcoming many wonderful guests: international students from Copenhagen, families, campers, cyclists and motorcyclists, as well as visitors to the Sweden Rock Festival. Each group brought their own story with them.

We particularly remember a German family who are travelling round Sweden for three months with their three young children in a motorhome, as well as a Norwegian group of motorcyclists on their way to the Dolomites.

Every stay enriches Boafall Lodge in its own way. For a while, the paths of very different people cross here – a place where you can settle down, take a breather and feel at home. It is precisely these encounters that make our work something truly special – every single day.

History:
Sleeping like in the army

A place steeped in history

What is now Boafall Lodge was once part of the military area surrounding the radar station Älgen 106. This building housed the soldiers who guarded the area and ensured the smooth running of the radar station. Whilst daily life back then was characterised by guard duty and military discipline, our guests today can enjoy the peace and quiet, the natural surroundings and the warm atmosphere.

A special remnant from that era is one of our four-person rooms, which is still furnished with the original fittings from the military era. Small steps have been fitted next to the bunk beds solely for the sake of comfort, making it easier to get in and out. This allows you to experience a piece of history – combined with modern-day comfort.

Comfort and convenience
Can you still remember what peace and tranquillity really mean?

No cars, no traffic noise, no neighbour’s lawnmower. No sirens, no stress. Instead, you can hear the wind in the treetops, the birdsong and perhaps an owl hooting as darkness falls. At night, it gets really dark – and so quiet that you can hear the forest. For many people, this kind of tranquillity is no longer a given. At Boafall Lodge, it’s still part of everyday life.

It gives us particular pleasure to see just how relaxed and content our guests are after their stay. This reassures us that we are on the right track and motivates us to continue looking after and developing this very special place with great passion.

This special quality is hard to put into words. Come and experience it for yourselves – we look forward to welcoming you to Boafall Lodge.

And about us:
Little glimpses of everyday life and projects

Whilst Natalie looked after Boafall Lodge, Maurits spent ten weeks returning to one of his great passions – shipping. From the Netherlands, the journey began aboard the tugboat Herman Gre along the Rhine and on to the Moselle.

Just before Luxembourg, a special task awaited us in Stadtbredimus. Here, the mooring posts at the lock for inland waterway traffic needed replacing, as the existing posts were rotten right through at the base. The work on board the tug took place in a very confined space and was both physically demanding and gruelling – but at the same time exciting and varied.

After a long day’s work in the summer heat, there was only one proper way to cool off: a plunge straight from the ship into the Moselle.

At the same time, we discovered something else: the journey from Luxembourg and the surrounding area to Boafall Lodge is easier than you might think. Flying from Luxembourg via Copenhagen makes the journey easy and convenient to plan. Perhaps we will soon have the opportunity to welcome guests from the Greater Luxembourg Region – Belgium, France and Germany – to Boafall Lodge as well.
