A sense of security

When we arrived here, we wanted to create an additional escape route. There was an exit at the end of the corridor, but no stairs. After more than a year of searching, we found the perfect staircase in February. At the same time, we worked with Anticimex to improve fire safety by replacing old fire extinguishers and creating a clear evacuation plan. The foundation for this is now in place, which gives a sense of security.

Cosiness by the wood-burning stove

I, Maurits, used to chop firewood at home - it wasn't fun then, but now I really appreciate it. At Boafall Lodge we burn a lot: about 10-12 cubic metres a year. Collecting, splitting and stacking firewood is hard work, but it's also something I enjoy. Guests can buy firewood from us in 40-litre bags. The stove and chimney are checked regularly to keep them warm, cosy and safe.

A real winter in Boafall

The King of Winter arrived in early January with snow and almost two months of frost. Boafall suddenly looked completely different. The access road was regularly cleared of snow by our neighbour and the lake froze over with ice up to 23 cm thick. Enthusiastic Dutch skaters were out on the ice early in the morning, while others were having fun sledging and making snowmen. The kind of winter you hope to experience here.

Every year we have a long to-do list - and it's not getting any shorter.

This winter we were busy with maintenance and improvements. We're excited to see who notices the changes.

It's still a building with a special history and we want to preserve its character.
