Every season at Boafall Lodge has its own unique charm.
In July, August and September, our guests have particularly enjoyed life outdoors – on the terraces, by the lake and amidst the beautiful natural surroundings. Long summer evenings, refreshing dips in the lake and cosy moments under the open sky have created many wonderful moments and memories.

It’s time to tell you a bit more about what’s been happening at Boafall Lodge over the past few months.

And, of course, there’s a touch of Swedish autumn flavour thrown in too – we’ve found a typical Swedish autumn recipe for you. Enjoy!

Boafall Lodge – where there’s still room for nature

There are places you go to experience nature. And then there are places where you’re already right in the middle of it. Boafall Lodge definitely falls into the latter category.

The lodge is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes Halen, Pieboda, Ljungryda and Råslången. Here, dense forests meet tranquil lakes, narrow paths, cliffs and open glades. And although there is an incredible amount to discover, it rarely feels rushed here. You can walk for a long time through the forest without coming across anyone else.

That is precisely what makes the area around Boafall so special to us. Here, nature still has its place. The forest is allowed to be a forest; the paths don’t have to be perfect; and by a quiet lake, you can often find a spot all to yourself. With a bit of luck, you’re more likely to come across a deer or the tracks of the forest’s animals than a large group of tourists.

And the best thing is that many of these experiences start right on your doorstep. Put on your walking boots, head out and set off on your walk. Both The Skåne Trail and The Blekinge Trail can be reached on foot from Boafall. Here, you can enjoy everything from a leisurely morning walk to a full day on the trails amongst the woods and lakes.

Find inspiration and plan your next trip:

🥾 The Skåne Trail – more than 1,600 kilometres of walking routes through the varied countryside of southern Sweden:

https://www.skaneleden.se/

🥾 The Blekinge Trail – around 270 kilometres through Blekinge’s forests and cultural landscapes and along its many lakes:
https://www.blekingeleden.com/

But a walk doesn’t always have to be about how many kilometres you cover. Often, it’s the little moments you remember: the silence by the lake early in the morning, the sound of something moving amongst the trees, a narrow path through the woods, or a break on a sun-warmed rock overlooking the water.

Here, you don’t have to go looking for nature. You just open the door – and there you are, right in the middle of it.

special meetings
Every guest, every conversation and every smile is an important part of the story of Boafall Lodge

What makes Boafall Lodge so special is the people who visit us. Often, what starts as a routine booking turns into a personal encounter right from the very first contact – and it is precisely these relationships that help make our day-to-day life at Boafall so meaningful.

Once again, we can look back on a summer filled with many wonderful guests whom we have had the pleasure of welcoming: walking groups, families, campers from all over Europe, guests celebrating birthdays, and nature lovers. Each group brought their own story and, in their own way, left a little mark on Boafall.

One group we remember particularly clearly was a Danish-Indian family spanning three generations. During their week-long stay, they filled the lodge with a very special warmth, zest for life and sense of togetherness. It was one of those weeks when, as a host, you really feel that a house becomes much more than just a place to stay the night.

Every stay brings something new to Boafall. This is where the paths of people with vastly different stories, ages and backgrounds cross – in a place where there is room to be together, take a deep breath and feel at home.

And perhaps that is precisely what we love most about Boafall: all the people we get to meet, and the little moments and memories that linger long after the guests have gone home.

A very special week together

From old acquaintances on the water to guests at Boafall

At the end of July, the time had finally come. After three years, we were delighted to be reunited with a group from Erfurt whom we knew from our time aboard our sailing ship Eendracht. Back then, they sailed with us – this time they came to spend a whole week at Boafall Lodge.

We had put together a varied programme in advance. We organised breakfast and lunch and went on excursions with the group on three of the days. We walked through the beautiful, peaceful woods and along the idyllic shores of Lake Halen, sailed on an old fishing boat to the charming island of Tjärö, and went on a relaxing canoe trip from Olofström.

Along the way, there was of course plenty of time for a refreshing swim, cosy moments round the campfire, shared meals and, last but not least, Michael’s accordion, which created a truly special atmosphere.

On the final evening, the week came to an especially festive and memorable close. The group know each other through folk dancing, and together with the folk dancers from Jämshög, they danced at Boafall.

A warm, cosy and eventful week filled with a sense of community, nature and happy memories – which we look back on with great joy.

Dates still available

Are you planning a cosy get-together with family, friends or a club?

There are still some attractive dates available:

When the cold weather sets in, Blekinge’s many lakes offer excellent opportunities for speed skating on natural ice. And not far from Boafall lies Vångabacken, Sweden’s southernmost ski resort, where you can go skiing and snowboarding – a somewhat unexpected winter experience this far south.

Enjoy the peaceful spring days in April or the long, light evenings in June – two wonderful times to experience Boafall.

We also still have places available for groups in connection with Sweden Rock Festival (7–13 June) as well as for staying in the vicinity of Midsummer (21–27 June).

Bookings for 2027 are already well underway, and we are particularly delighted that so many groups choose to return to Boafall Lodge year after year.

Perhaps 2027 will also be the year you visit Boafall?

Comfort and convenience
Sleep well. Naturally.

A good night’s sleep is important. It re-energises us, helps the body to recover and enables us to start the next day with a clear head. But in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can sometimes be difficult to truly find peace.

In Boafall, the night feels different. No traffic noise, no streetlights, no hustle and bustle. Instead, there are woods, fresh air and a darkness that has become a rarity in many places. When silence falls, all you might hear is the wind in the trees or a bird down by the lake.

Many of our guests tell us how well they sleep here. Perhaps it’s the fresh air. Perhaps it’s the peace and quiet. Or perhaps it’s simply that the natural surroundings at Boafall make it a little easier to let go of everyday life for a while.

And because a good bed is, of course, also part of a good night’s sleep, we’ve installed new beds in some of our rooms, thereby making the sleeping experience even more comfortable. Naturally, we didn’t want to leave anything to chance: we’ve personally put the beds through their paces. After all, our guests should sleep at least as well as we do.

Boafall Lodge – days filled with nature and nights filled with tranquillity.

A taste of the Swedish autumn

As late summer slowly gives way to autumn, one of the loveliest times of the year begins around Boafall – mushroom season. After a few days of rain and mild nights, it’s particularly lovely to go for a walk in the woods. And if you’re lucky, golden chanterelles will appear amongst the moss, blueberry bushes and fir trees.

In Sweden, mushrooms are an integral part of autumn. And it really doesn’t take much to turn what you find in the woods into a delicious meal. A simple classic is a creamy mushroom stir-fry with potatoes.

Creamy mushroom stir-fry – Swedish mushroom stir-fry

Serves approx. 4 people:

– 500 g fresh mushrooms, preferably chanterelles
– 800 g small potatoes
– 1 onion
– 2 tbsp butter
– approx. 2 dl cream
– a little fresh thyme or parsley
– salt and freshly ground pepper
– a little lingonberry or lingonberry jam to serve with it

Boil the potatoes until they are just tender. Meanwhile, carefully clean the mushrooms and fry them in a hot frying pan without any fat until most of the liquid has evaporated.

Then add the butter and finely chopped onion, and continue to fry until the mushrooms take on a lovely golden colour. Pour in the cream and leave to simmer for a couple of minutes. Season to taste with salt, pepper and a little fresh thyme.

Serve the mushrooms with the boiled potatoes – and perhaps with a small spoonful of lingonberries on the side. The combination of the creamy mushrooms and the slightly tart lingonberries gives the dish that very special Swedish flavour.

And, of course, it tastes best of all after a long walk in the woods – perhaps even with chanterelles you’ve picked yourself that very day.

This is what autumn tastes like at Boafall – simple, warm and with a hint of the forest.

Ring 1

About us:
Utklippan – a ring with significance

We all know of things whose value cannot be measured in monetary terms. Things that are linked to a special moment, a place or a memory.

For us, this ring is exactly that sort of thing. It comes from a long-established jewellery shop in Karlskrona and is called “Utklippan” – named after the small islands situated far out in the Baltic Sea off the Swedish coast.

On 13 July, Utklippan came into our lives. Ever since that day, Natalie has worn it – not just as a piece of jewellery, but as a memento of a special moment and of our life here in Sweden.

Sometimes it’s the little things that tell the biggest stories.
